The University of Warwick's Student's Union is currently conducting its elections for sabbatical officers for the next academic year. Most candidates seem to be under the impression that the more you litter campus with posters, the more likely you will have electoral success. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm personally not very impressed by handpainted cardboard signs in an election where the candidates seem to compete with each other in serving up the same platitudes and populist drivel! How about some innovation and new ideas people? I guess that is to much to hope for at a second-tier university.
Who will I vote for? Other than the no-brainer of NOT voting for James Hilsdon, Tommy Precious or Lev Taylor, I would say that I would vote for the candidates that have not puked posters on the library, but I fear that would leave me with no other option than R.O.N. Happy Elections everyone!
